Chances are, you have owned a gym membership at some time in your life. Equally likely is that you didn’t really use that membership. perhaps you went there once or twice, but you certainly didn’t go the three times a week that ‘they’ say you’re supposed to. And you probably felt a little guilty about it. Well, you shouldn’t!

Sure, it’s a little silly to pay for something you never use (and they sure do want their monthly fees, whether or not you’re using their facilities!), but the fact is that going to the gym is an unnecessary bother.

First of all you’ve got to get there. You’ve already battled your way through traffic on your way home from work, and then you have to do the same again to get to the gym. Then you might have to stand around waiting for your chosen machine to become free. Plus you’ve got to deal with the stares from that creepy guy in the corner who’s bought a gym membership solely so he can watch women working out.

It’s a hassle. And it’s unnecessary. Not very long ago, the only place you could find decent workout equipment was in a gym. like adjustable dumbbells. And the only people who could tell you how to use it properly were the personal trainers there.

But these days there is a wide range of home fitness equipment available. Much of it is every bit as good as the ones you find in the gym. And you can easily find information on how to use them, as well as general information and weight loss tips. Your greatest resource is the one you’re using now: the Internet!

Fitness tips, diet tips, exercise specific information, all of it is available in the blink of an eye. You really don’t need to pay for the advice of somebody down your local gym who might not even know what they’re talking about when you can get information from experts all around the world for free!

Compare the above scenario with this one:

You travel home from work, get changed out of the office gear into some jogging bottoms and a baggy t-shirt, put on your headphones and get on the treadmill. There you pound out all of the day’s frustrations – the traffic, the customer complaints, the woman with the piercing laugh who sits on the other side of the office – while listening to your favourite songs. And all the while you’re getting fit!

Then you walk (not drive!) into your own bathroom, where you don’t have to worry about who’s been in there before you, and shower.

Isn’t this a great deal more civilized than messing around with the gym? Getting fit and losing weight at home is easier than it ever used to be. It just makes sense. And although buying the home fitness equipment means a slight initial outlay, not having to pay those monthly gym memberships means that you actually save money in the long run!

It saddens me that we as Africans in America can no longer distingiush the difference between ointment and salt. Camaflauged in the ointment of help, this website does nothing but re-inforce negative stereotypes which rubs salt in the deep wounds of African people in America. This unholy marriage of Reality and MINSTRIAL T.V. does nothing but dehumanize and demonize the very people who need the most help.

In Robert M Entman and Andrew Rojecki’s work"The Black Image in the White Mind" – They, discuss the effects of life in a segregated society. Their book offers a comprehensive look at the intricate and subtle racial patterns in the mass media and discusses how these powerful images play a significant role in shaping the attitudes of Whites toward Blacks.

White Americans, they show, learn about African Americans not through personal relationships, but through the images shown by the media and internet sites like HOT GHETTO MESS. In addition, the authors reveal a subtle pattern of images that communicates a racial hierarchy in which white’s are seen as morally "superior" and Blacks are viewed as morally deprived and almost sub-human.

This site PROVES that After 150 years of African slavery, 100 years Jim Crow and minstrial entertainment, and 40 years of media demonization, Africans in America have internalized these images and made them their own. African Americans no longer simply respond to the name Toby, but they have embraced the identity. (For those of you who do not understand the analogy, I am referring to the movie Roots. Kunta Kente’s white master made him change his name.)

Carter G. Woodson and Na’im Akbar are RIGHT, MANY AFRICAN’S IN AMERICA ARE PSYCHOLOGICAL SLAVES. Psychological slavery is much more crippling than physical slavery because the victim is unconsciously his own oppresser. Anyone who finds this "masochistic mess" entertaining are themselves unconscious slaves. What emotionally healthy and sane person laughs at their own victimhood?

Secondly, this pragmatic strategy, of MAKING BLACKS DO BETTER is ineffective because we are ATTACK the SYMPTOMS AND NOT THE PROBLEMS. If we really want to HELP Africans in America "DO BETTER" than we need to do more than simply attack their clothes, sem-nude Play boy or Ghetto queen pics. We need to discuss economic development, job training, mentoring programs and etc. Trying use BLACK EXPLOITATION as a MEANS TO IMPROVE THE BLACK SOCIAL CONDITION IS A FOOLISH PIPE DREAM.

IF YOU WANT TO GIVE BLACK PEOPLE THE KEY TO THE AMERICAN DREAM TO HELP THEM TO DO BETTER BY FOCUSING MORE ON EDUCATION INSTEAD OF EXPLOITATION.

Lastly, the sadist part of this SITE IS THAT IT IS REALLY NOT POKING FUN AT SPECIFIC PEOPLE AS MUCH AS IT IS POKING FUN AT THEIR SPECIFIC PLIGHT!!! When we spend time making FUN OF PEOPLES PAIN, POVERTY AND IDENTITY IN THE NAME OF HELP and Righteous Indignation, WE "THE ENLIGHTENED" ARE THE REAL HOT GHETTO MESS!

That is the equavelent of telling a man who is runnig from a lion that he should hide in the lake full of hungery allegators or it is like a Doctor telling a cripple man that in order to fix one leg the Doctor has to break the other. This venue, HOT GHETTO MESS, IS NOT OFFERING HELP OR CORRECTION, IT IS JUST A NEW PREDATOR THAT FEEDS INTO RACIAL STEREOTYPES.

AFRICANS IN AMERICA ARE SICK OF CHOOSING WHICH WAY THEY WILL BE CRIPPLE, WE MUST DEVELOP STRATEGIES TO MAKE THEM WHOLE.

(I AM INTERESTED IN YOUR HONEST THOUGHTS!)

I sent a certified cancellation to LA Fitness for gym/trainer services. I was told after 30 days money would stop coming out of my bank acct. I was told that now after 2 more months of money deducted that I have to get a Doctors letter for reason of my cancellation. Is this true? Do I actually need a letter? Can’t I cancel due to just cause, verbally? There are 4 gyms within a 25 mile radius of my location. Is it true you can cancel if you have moved more than 25 miles away from a LA Fitness center? My gym was finally cancelled ,but in order to cancel my trainer, who I never did have due to personal circumstance, I now need a Doctors letter staing a medical reason for a reason of my cancellation. Is this TRUE? What are my options? I told the billing person: why can’t the trainer be cancelled as I did not need medical report to join so why now that the gym is cancelled would I need a trainer and why do I need a medical release from a Doctor. She stated it is in the contract. I ws never given the final contract that specifies this part.

The Holiday Health club has reduced its annual membership fee by 10%. In addition, if you sign up on Monday, they will take an additional off tbe already reduced price. If you purchase a year’s membership on Monday and pay 0, what is the regular membership fee?

Still have the ovaries but I am starting to stand up for myself to my husband. I want to start going to the gym and join the art clubs and my husband refuse to let me. I feel so good now and I want to change my health for the good. Am I going through a mid life crisis?

Hi, I have a 13 year old daughter in 7th grade. She’s 5’1 1/2, about 135 pounds. She isn’t exactly fat, but she needs to lose weight. She doesn’t look good in a one or two piece, and she wants to make some changes (quick if possible). She just has really big thighs. She is pressured daily to lose weight, but she actually does need to lose it. I need some places in OC that can help her lose weight. She started going to a sports training facility for about a month, but she only gained a ton of muscle and bigger muscular thighs. Is she too young to go on a weight loss system? Can she get a personal trainer at 24 hour Fitness or Bally, or something that can help her achieve her weight loss goals? She basically doesn’t care what she looks like, just that she looks good in a bathing suit. All of the calories she eats go to her thighs/ hips/ butt, but not stomach. I’m just trying to help her secure a good healthy future. She never wears any pairs of jeans anymore, just sweatpants. She despises jeans now. It saddens me that she can’t be happy like every other girl her age, wearing skinny jeans and tanks. She recently lost all her friends because of her weight. A lot of pressure in OC, right? Anyways any places that can help with her slimming down would be great.

Jump rope workout

Your quest for the best-ever body starts here with a jump rope workout. In the next sections, you’ll find step-by-step guides to simple workout routines which literally sear fat from your abs, while strengthening your arms and legs.

Here’s some good news. There is no need to spend countless dollars on expensive gym equipment or hire a personal trainer to get results using a jump rope workout routine. Commit to exercising about 15 minutes daily, jumping rope in a comfortable environment, and you will see the flab melt from your midsection with each bounce.

In the past, working out was supposed to be excruciating (remember the old adage, “no pain-no gain”)? The jump rope workout is far from a chore, in fact, it is a fun activity which can make you look and feel better. With that in mind, let’s begin by discussing a few guidelines which will maximize your results.

Jump Rope Workout For Beginners
Following a few basic guidelines for your jump rope workout will help to maximize the fat burning process.

•Start your sessions in the morning on an empty stomach. You will burn the greatest amount of fat since the body is usually carb-depleted which makes fat the primary fuel source for energy

•Eat half a scoop of whey protein mixed with water before each session. This mixture will make your body get the bulk of its energy from this fast digesting
supplement instead of taking energy from your muscles.

•Add the following supplements to your diet prior to each 15 minute workout. Take about 300 mg of caffeine and 2 grams of carnitine.

•Consider adjusting the intensity of the jump rope workout at regular intervals. It is usually better to start jumping at a fast rate, then lower the number of jumps as your body cools down.

•Don’t over-extend yourself. While 15 minutes doesn’t sound like a long period to exercise, expert trainers agree that repetition is key. Continue the sessions at regular, timed intervals to see results quickly.

•Be sure to breathe deeply. If you can talk while jumping, you are breathing correctly.

Jump Rope WorkoutJump Rope Workout – Why It Works

What’s so special about using a jump rope workout routine? There are actually several answers, but the most important involves how it effects metabolism. According to the Baylor College of Medicine, subjects who incorporated jumping rope burned significantly more calories during a 24 hour period than those who chose to work out on a stationary bicycle.

What caused this result? Well, the jump rope workout is a total routine which is fairly tough on the body and it requires more calories to repair itself after jumping. Thus, a rise in resting metabolism is usually experienced by the participant.

In 2007 researchers Florida State University (Tallahassee), discovered that those who performed a jump rope workout used 10 per cent more calories in the 24 hours following the routine. The control group used a stationary bicycle and burned the same amount of calories during the workout, but did not continue to burn calories after their session.

According to the Journal of Applied Physiology, females who jumped rope during 15 minute intervals over a two week time period showed a 30 per cent increase in both their fat oxidation and the levels of enzymes that help to oxidize fat.

When you look at all the science, you can easily conclude that starting a workout routine that involves jumping rope is a good way to lose unwanted fat while saving muscle mass.

10 Minute Jump Rope Workout

0:00-1:00 Jump over the rope with feet together, one jump per turn

1:00-2:00 Run in place while turning the rope

2:00-3:00 Jumping jacks (no rope)

3:00-4:00 Jump over the rope, alternating knee lifts

4:00-5:00 Jump from side to side, keeping both feet together

5:00-6:00 Single jumps with rope

6:00-7:00 Run in place with rope

7:00-8:00 Jumping jacks (no rope)

8:00-9:00 Jump with heels out, knees up

9:00-10:00 Jump high enough to pass the rope under your feet twice before landing

Of course we would all like to make a daily pilgrimage to the local gym 6 days per week, but real life always seem to take over.

If you find yourself short on time and budget, or if you want to exercise your entire body in one fell swoop, use the jump rope workout video.

Who would have ever imagined that the activity we took for granted in grammar school could be used so effectively in our daily fight to stay trim and fit.

I eat a lot of frozen pizza, pasta bakes etc. and get so bored eating the same food that I end up ordering takeaway! (Especially Indian) I would like to vary my diet in a healthy way, I’m not very inventive and haven’t been too successful so far with cooking. (Don’t eat many vegetables and tend to still feel hungry after just a salad.) I joined a Health Club in September and go to the gym regularly and practice Yoga and Pilates as well as swimming. So I am detetmined to get healthy! I would really appreciate some advice on healthy meals and snacks. Thank you!!

I want to get a gym membership, and I’m trying to decide between Bally’s, 24 Hour Fitness and LA Fitness. Does anyone have any specific experiences, like membership difficulties, etc. involving any of these gyms? I go out of the country from a couple of months out of each year, so I need a gym that’s flexible in that regard.
By the way, I live in Los Angeles (Beverly Hills/West Hollywood area), in case anyone is familiar with the clubs specific to this area.

1. A paid in full membership for 2 years to the local health club near you.
2. A 3x’s per week house cleaning for free for the next 2 years. Brought to you by a professional cleaning service near you.
3. A brand new washer and dryer from Lowes, the washer that has the steam control.

I was at the health club last night, and this hot mom was kicking the crap out of the kickboxing punch bag. It was really exciting, she was really aggressive. I almost said "hey, if you want to really fight somebody, i’ll fight you in the gym". Would that be appropriate for me to ask… or is that just stupid… or is that inappropriate flirting???

I know that I can get certified as a personal trainer, but am wondering if fitness facilities prefer or require a staff trainer to have a 4 year degree.
