fitness training teenagers
Fitness problems? Does anxiety have something to do with this?

Hi, i’m a 16 year old teenager i play football (soccer) and my season has ended my team has been doing pre-season training, but for the past month i’ve been getting really out of breath easily in training and i’m getting easily outpaced by other players in my team who i feel like i’m faster than.. been feeling unfit and lazy
I went to a doctor and she said that i’m suffering from abit of anxiety but i don’t understand how this affects you physically?

Last year i had a very healthy diet, i still have a healthy diet but i have noticed some foods i’ve been eating are not as healthy as the foods i was eating last year, i feel like i’ve gained weight but alot of people say i have not, is anxiety playing a part with that?
I do have an awful sleeping pattern this year its worse than last year is this a cause of the problem aswell?

I really appreciate all your answers, thank you.

Well if your doctor says its anxiety then it probably is (’cause she’s a doctor). And yes it can affect you physically because all this happens on a neural level (in your brain) and it affects hormonal balance and all. Anxiety is considered to be a normal reaction to stress. symptoms include;

heart palpitations, muscle weakness and tension, fatigue, nausea, chest pain, shortness of breath, stomach aches, or headaches. The body prepares to deal with a threat: blood pressure and heart rate are increased, sweating is increased, bloodflow to the major muscle groups is increased, and immune and digestive system functions are inhibited (the fight or flight response). External signs of anxiety may include pale skin, sweating, trembling, and pupillary dilation. Someone who has anxiety might also experience it as a sense of dread or panic. Although panic attacks are not experienced by every person who has anxiety, they are a common symptom. Panic attacks usually come without warning, and although the fear is generally irrational, the perception of danger is very real. A person experiencing a panic attack will often feel as if he or she is about to die or pass out.

but since you have only a little i wouldn’t worry too much about all that (above). so to solve your problem. you have to figure out whats causing you stress and hence anxiety examine your life closely it may be something completely irrational even. And try to sleep better and eat better too. good luck man!

nysc membership
New York Sports Club membership fee question?

ok so im considering on joining NYSC. it seems really good, great equipment and the people there are so nice. now they’re offering me a great deal 140 membership fee and 55 a month. now its great but im 17 and dnt rlly have a steady income.

so im wondering, for anyone that is a member at these clubs, is a great club, and how much do you pay monthly including taxes?. i want to know about how much im going to be needin each month
i meant 55$ a month, i just want to know is New York Sports Club, which is a popular gym in NY, is worth it

You said 55 a month, I dont understand really what your question is? Living in South carolina must be a lot cheaper. I pay $25 a month with a $50 enrollment at my gym. I can use any peak fitness in the area also, we have 4 of them.

By the way, my gym does not charge taxes on my fee. I have it direct withdraw from my checking account for exactly$25 once a month, I would imagine this gym works about the same way.

extreme fitness training methods
Adelaide Crows, – We need a ruckman to assist Maric, what are the greatest needs you see?

There are some glaring flaws at present in the adelaide lineup, I have seen stop gap foolish suggestions as Burton into ruck, Burton would be a disaster as a ruckman , too light, , and his legs simply would not allow him to cover the ground covered by a ruckman, he like others have been great players for us, but his injuries are simply making him too unreliable
Different training methods, the extreme fitness regime has caused disaster this season, retire some of the older players, the have performed exceedingly well over many years, but I for one, would rather remember them as great players, not as has beens, we need to recruit, and we need to do it as soon as possible, we were supposed to be rebuilding 2 years ago, we need a forward line who actually can kick straight.
I realise calling for Craig to be replaced, will incur much abuse, but honestly what has he produced, we were quick to dump other coaches who produced more.
what are your suggestions,

Definately a decent ruckman..who can do a lot more than just tap work. A ruckman who can mark and kick. A ruckman who can run and dictate play…..a ruckman just like Cox.

We also need a strong marking C/H/F…someone like J Brown. We have always struggled in this area, if we had a decent C/H/F in the last 5yrs, Adelaide would have won 2 flags in that time…without a doubt.

As for the coach…Craig is doing his job, Without the players, the coach always look bad. When the team is flying like last season, there was no bad publicity about Craigy.

kids fitness
If kids physical fitness is such a big deal than why take P.E. out of there schools?

People are always saying the kids in society today are becoming more obese and have more medical problems than ever before. I don’t see the point in taking away their only way to get out and play and run. P.E. is what gives the kids of today a look at how they can stay fit and not only that but healthy. It helps kids make smarter chices of what they do during the day, wether it be play video games and play in a pick-up basketball game. It also allows the kids to know what food is healthy and helps them make smarter dietary choices during the day.

Woah! They are taking PE out of school that is crazy. I don’t remember anything about PE fondly or that I ever enjoyed it but I’m pretty sure it helped somehow. I think we should just give children an extra hour of freetime to run around and do whatever, not assigned tasks.

For the U.S. Military, Video Games Get Serious
Today’s U.S. military recruits enjoy an arsenal of simulators and video games that sharpen their fighting skills and may even protect them from the mental stresses of combat. But experts caution that virtual reality could also help mask the reality of war.

fitness training unlimited
Derby Winner’s Times – where is evolution when you want it?

We all know how evolution works – selection pressure on a population that has heritable variation. We also know how modern knowledge of training, nutrition, drugs and so on has allowed athletes to run faster. You may also be aware of the vast amounts of money that is at stake on the Derby. Put it all together and here you have an example of intense selection pressure combined with unlimited resources with one aim – to make a horse that runs faster. You only have to look at the Stud Fees associated with the breeding of winners to see how owners believe in heritability of “fitness”. So why aren’t the winning times of either the Epsom or Kentucky Derby improving? Has evolution stopped for the last fifty years?

Evolution probably “stopped” 2000 years ago.

We know that people, especially kings and nobles, have been breeding race horses since at leats the middle bronze age, 4000 years ago. And these people also had unlimited money.

As a result the optimal genetic makeup for a fast horse was almost certainly achieved by 2000 years ago. And that selection for optimal existing gnes is the fast process in evolution.

The only way horses are going to get faster then they were 2000 years ago is if truly novel genes arise as a result of mutation, and thatis staggeringly rare. We wouldn’t expect more than one such gene to arise anywhere in the world in any given century.

So we’re now in the slow phas eof evolutionary selection: the development of genetic novelty. Be prepared for along wait.

It is far faster to imprve a trait in an esentially random propulation than to try to improve a trait in a population that has already been hevaily and exclusively selected for that trait.
