Living in Downtown Austin

Living In Central Austin

Downtown Austin residents are passionate about their neighborhood.  The community is filled with restaurants, theaters, museums, outdoor activities, one of a kind retailers and an eclectic entertainment scene – all of which create a vibrant scene that is uniquely Austin.

A wide range of residential choices exist in and around the downtown area, from single family homes to more than 3,300 unique residential units available for purchase or rent.  The downtown community is made up of a diverse population – from students to empty nesters and more.

Most downtown dwellers will tell you that the real benefit of living downtown is being within walking distance of work, dinner, a play or a nightclub.  Currently, almost 363,000 people live within 10 miles of the heart of downtown Austin.  Downtown is home to almost 6,000 diverse residents, 90,000 daytime employees and well over 100,000 evening patrons.

Music

Austin doesn’t brag about being the “Live Music Capital of the World” just for the fun of it!  The district has more than 60 live music venues- a number that grows substantially when South by Southwest rolls into town!  If a club’s got an open spot on the floor, it’s a live music venue too!

fitness gym prices
Which Gym is Better: To Work Out At 24 Hour Fitness or the YMCA?

I was wondering what the two prices of those two gyms were. Plus, which is better or more preferred? I want opinions from people that include the two gyms that I have mentioned in the question and what are the prices per month?

24 hour fitness is designed as a gym which means more personal trainers and probably they have more experience. i also think it costs less. the ymca i s also designed as a community center which means less trainers and more annoying little kids running around. the ymca is $150 a week which is horribly expensive. both places have tvs and any exercise Equipment you can think but the ymca doesn’t have the quantity as 24 hour. overall, for a gym that you want to train at and not preferring a friendly atmosphere, i choose 24 hour fitness

exercise class courses
How do I become accepted into the Naval Academy?

Well, my dream is to get accepted into the naval academy. I am short for my age and i am a junior in high-school. School has not started yet and this whole year i am going to work my ass off. Im taking SAT prep classes extra-curricular activities. I tried sports but was cut because of my size. I was a boy scout for 3 years have not really done any volunteer work. I take a lifeguard course and exercise regularly. Grades are low 80′s but am working on them. Im going to stay motivated the whole year to complete my goal. I have already sent out applications to my senators. Working my ass off but still need tips and honest answers. My PSAT score was a 1330 for my first time. Im trying hard but still need help.Honesty please and send reviews and true stories or books please. Please dont be too cruel. Thank YOU

Gotta be honest with you — your chances of getting into the Naval Academy are not good. Guy I went to school with was accepted, but his GPA was 3.9, he was in the National Honor Society and was heavily involved in school activities, and he was an Eagle Scout with lots of community service. You’d really have to get that GPA up and do more with school and volunteer work if you want to have a chance. If you’re a white male, you’re probably out of luck, but if you’re of African-American or Hispanic descent, you may have a chance (this is NOT a slam against minorities; it’s the plain truth — females and minority group members do not have to meet the same standards as white males).

personal fitness training organizations
How do I become a personal trainer and prepare for a career in fitness instruction?

I would really appreciate it if a current or former personal trainer or other fitness professional could help guide me in this area…

I’m currently 19 years old and plan to go to school for a bachelor’s in kinesiology. I’d like to be a personal trainer or athletic trainer to start with but would love to move up or go wherever the career takes me.

So my question is is there anything I can do right now to become a personal trainer or prepare myself for it? I’ve read that depending on the organization, you may only need certification. So would it be a good idea to get certified now and do a entry-level personal training job during summer or while attending school? If so, how do you get certified? Is it just reading some material and taking an exam or can I actually attend a class to help me get certified? Thanks.

trying to get the cert would be awesome. you could also see if you could some sort of intern or volunteer work at a gym to see and maybe work along with a personal trainer. i know that some gyms offers certification courses so that you could be certified to be a personal trainer at that gym.

good luck!
