India as a medical tourism destination

The Indian Government is taking serious initiatives in this regards and plans to start overseas marketing of India as a medical tourism destination. The Medical tourism is a term coined which covers patients traveling across the globe for tourism purposes clubbing their requirements for treatment of acute illness, elective surgeries such as cardiology, hip replacement, knee replacement,etc. government of India is of the opinion that by marketing India as a global market, it could capitalize on the low-cost, high-quality medical care available in the country. India, touted as one of the favourite destinations for information technology majors, is currently emerging as the chosen destination for medical or health tourism. The Government of India, State tourism boards, travel agents, tour operators, hotel companies and private sector hospitals are exploring the medical tourism industry for tremendous opportunities. They are seeking to capitalise on the opportunities by combining the country’s popular leisure tourism with medical tourism. Industry projections?

Statistics estimate that the medical tourism industry in India is currently worth $333 million (Rs 1,500 crore) while a study by CII-McKinsey estimates that the country could well earn Rs 5,000-10,000 crore by the year 2012. The Indian medical tourism industry, growing at an annualised rate of 30 percent, caters to patients chiefly from the US, Europe and Africa. Although in its nascent stage, the industry is outpacing similar industries of other countries such as Greece, South Africa, Jordan, Malaysia, Philippines and Singapore. In the year 2004, Approx 1,50,000 medical tourists have visited India. What makes it so attractive?

Primary is the cost factor. The medical costs in India are a fraction of the costs in the US/Europe. For instance, a heart surgery costs $6,000 in India as against $30,000 in the US. Similarly, a bone marrow transplant costs $26,000 in India as compared to $2,50,000 in the US. Foreign patients throng Indian hospitals to pass up the long waiting lists and queues in their native countries. The NHS patients in UK have to wait for months for Hip/Knee replacements surgery. Indian hospitals provide immediate attention to patients rather than asking them to wait for several months like in most western countries. India’s top notch private hospitals like Apollo, Fortis, Max HealthCare have gained international recognition for their state-of-the-art facilities and diagnostic centers besides unsurpassed technical skills. Their technology and procedures are state of the art and on par with hospitals in developed nations. Foreign patients can get attractive package deals including flights, transfers, hotels, treatment and post-operative vacation for their medical visits to India. fitness personal trainer
How do you become a personal fitness trainer?

I am a Program Coordinator for a Summer Youth Employment Program. One of my students is interested in becoming a personal trainer. This one is out of my field. I’d like to give him info on how to beomce one.

How do you become a personal trainer? Do you have to go to a 4 year college or trade school for it?

not at all. you have to take a test for certification. the test is pretty difficult though. you need to be able to identify all the muscle groups, and then depending on the certification he goes for, he’ll have to identify exercises that go with those muscle groups. THen he’ll have to get experience, and then he’s a personal trainer.

Im looking to join a good gym with a fair/cheap monthly rate. Any good options?

Does anyone use target heart rate training on a treadmill?

I found this free workout plan online that uses heart rate training. It’s called the HRC Planner and can be found here at http://www.truefitness.com/free-workout-plan.aspx It’s a custom 24 week program that uses target heart rate as a means to see improvement in your fitness level.

You first have to KNOW your target heart rate, and that has a huge number of variables, far more that can be accounted for by any website. Ask your doctor what yours should be.

In any workout, you have to reach your target heart rate in order to be working out effectively. So, once you have that figure, you can use it no matter how you are training.

Anyone know a good Atlanta health club?

For basic needs, really. For someone who wants to get in, do their thing, and get out. Obviously should be clean and with a pleasant staff, though.

I would recommend going through the website below. That’s how I found someone in my area. They’ll arrange for you to go in and speak with someone at the club, and you can go to a few other locations if you want, to compare. They also have descriptions about each other, so you can find out what kind of equipment they use, classes they offer and stuff. It’s worth checkin out.

personal fitness training contracts
how much can i improve?

Ok, i asked a question earlier about SF recruits…and everyone flamed me for being too weak. I KNOW that i’m not near the physical capabilities of SF soldiers….but i haven’t even gone to BCT yet…i’m in college! I am going to sign my contract to leave for BCT in january 2009, I am taking a military style fitness class at college…1 1/2 months ago, i added the class, i was able to do 20 pushups, 40 situps in 2 mins, and running the 2-mile in about 16:00…now (1 1/2 months later) i can do 40 pushups, 60 situps in 2 mins, and run the 2-mile in 14:00….i still have 2 months left of training before i go to BCT/OSUT…how much do you think APPROXIMATELY (i know it depends on your mindset how much you’ll improve) i can do after 2 months of personal training, then BCT/OSUT, then Airborne school, then SOPC, how much do you think i can physically do by then approximately…thanks for the help
p.s. I am a male, 6’0″, 150 lbs

It depends on you . I have been training for BCT for infantry , and i was @ 15 push-ups before my arms would get tired, 1week later i was @ 30 .. I could do way more than 10 like 6 months ago , but i stopped being active. So if u train hard it’s no limit , i do mines everyday , i do 30 , rest , 30 , rest 30 , and then im out .. this is in a span of like 3- 5 mins .. Sit-ups arent hard 4 me , just annoying ..

Teenage boy needs a fitness training program to lose weight & train muslces? Read for details pls!?

My weight is around 68-72kg, and my height is 163cm.
In about 4 weeks, I need to be 64kg or less. That means 1kg per week. I hope that by 1st May, I would be about 58kg after losing fats and putting on some muscles.

However, I have a packed timetable. Every weekday, I’ll go to school at 6.00am and usually will only reach home at 5.00 exhusted. My college has arrnaged for me to do weight training every monday and friday for an hour. I am trying to arrange for time afterschool to exercise about, one hour every other day, meaning Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

I hope to have two hours each on Saturday and Sunday to workout as well(one of which will be for swimming, most likely).

Either than losing weight & toning my body, I also like to train my NAFFA test which consist of pull-ups, standing board jump, shuttle-run, sit-up and 2.4 run.

I do not have any equipments at home and I’m not allowed to buy them. Please help!

Im a 15 year old girl. 68-72 is an average weight for a teenage guy. But i guess if you need to lose the weight.

If your trying to lose weight and gain muscle your probaley just going to put on weight as muscle weighs more than fat.

Buy a protien powder and take daily and make about 60% of your diet to do with Eggs, Drinking raw eggs daily, boiled eggs, egg whites if your trying to lose weight.

For you i would say that you should diet first then hit the gym.
If your trying to lose about a pound each week. Have 5 meals a day around 250 calories each meal (never go for more then 3hours without a meal). And also drink loads of water (Your pee should be clear if not drink more)

Remeber 1pound = 3000 calories

Does weight training for men help reduce adominal fat as study shows for women?

The study was funded by the National Institutes of Health and is being presented Friday at an American Heart Association conference in Phoenix showing the merits of weight training in women to reduce adominal fat(Web site article below). My question is does this also apply to men? I am overweight and walking a good amount(1 hour 5 days per week). Do I integrate weight training for 2 or 3 of these hours?

It is easier for men to lose the fat on their stomachs then woman. try to incorporate jogging into the walking. Defiantly do weight training and start doing Ab exercises they will help tremendously. But running and jogging will help burn up those calories. And if you have a bad diet start changing that to you will then have less calories to burn and then the exercise you do will help focus on the stored fat on your body.
